How do you feel about the comic’s original intent? It’s clearly a response to nerd culture’s tendency to mockingly dismiss sports, as in this Oatmeal comic (https://twitter.com/oatmeal/status/430117130869043201). But football and sports are just as much “pop culture” phenomenon as a mega blockbuster or AAA video game release. So I’m not sure if it can even be applied there in fairness or not.
